Here are a few Hipstamatic shots taken on my way home this evening on the road up from Hathersage to Burbage.
This is one of three road routes out of Hathersage village.
The road mentioned in my, “Extra Green”, blog goes to Grindleford and on to Bakewell, Matlock and ultimately the Midlands.
The third possibility is to go out of Hathersage in the opposite direction to this road through the Hope Valley, up and over Mam Tor at Castleton and on into the High Peak.
I hope you can see the rocks on the horizons in these shots. They are very impressive rocks. People come from all over Europe to climb them. I wish I had more time to get closer and take photos that do justice to their primeval power but all I have is moments snatched out of time at work.
I remember standing on the top of some of these rock formations as a teenager and thinking how cool it would be to bring a drum kit and Marshall Stacks and a P.A. System up there and let rip with some gut-wrenching, primeval rock music to match the majesty of this landscape.
It never happened but I still find this landscape very moving and inspiring.
Perhaps I’ll take a few trips out here with a proper camera in my leisure time so I can do justice to the rocks.
